-Mecca is the spiritual center of Islam; this is the most sacred site in Islam -A large mosque surrounds the Kaaba -Destination for those making the hajj, or spiritual pilgrimage to mecca. -Pilgrims circumambulate the Kaaba counterclockwise seven times
